Assignment

• 111 doors finished with an HPL finishing material in a specific colour.
• Use of a special edge-strip with dovetail.
• Lead time: less than three weeks after quotation. Three weeks after ordering the doors, the hotel was fully booked.

Problem

• The average delivery time for such an assignment is 12 weeks. Moreover, just prior to the summer holidays, this delivery time can be even longer.
• No supplier had sufficient HPL sheet material in the correct colour and structure available.

The client

“Last-minute orders are common during the weeks prior to the summer holidays, however this general contractor had waited a very long time to place his order”, states Christelle Mallegni, from the sales department. “Although the dimensions were standard and they did not have to satisfy other technical requirements, except those relating to the statutory fire resistance, it is still not certain whether, at the end of the working year, such new assignments will be ready on time. Moreover, the Hotel Eden has such a specific and exceptional decor, that the finish had to be extremely meticulous. For example, the colour of the HPL finishing material was dark grey and high-gloss, a colour that we did not have enough of in stock. For us, this assignment was simply a bridge too far. We certainly did not hesitate to summon assistance from Doorsolutions.”

Moreover, since the dimensions of these panels were not the same, it was also a major puzzle to work out how all of the doors could be clad in a high-quality manner.”
